New chief information officer hired at Alpine Bank
Technology plays an increasingly important role in how people bank, connect and do business. That's why Alpine Bank has created a new executive leadership position and welcomed Brenden Smith as the organization's first chief information officer (CIO).
The new role reflects Alpine Bank’s continued commitment to delivering the best possible experience for customers while building a strong foundation for future growth.
Smith joined Alpine Bank in August with nearly two decades of experience in banking technology, cybersecurity and risk management. Most recently, he served as chief information security officer at FirstBank, where he helped lead efforts to strengthen security, modernize systems and support organizational growth.
For Alpine Bank President and CEO Glen Jammaron, Smith’s experience is only part of what makes him the right fit for Alpine.
"What really stood out to me is how well Brenden lines up with how we operate," Jammaron said. "He's worked his way up in the banking industry, understands both the opportunities and the growing pains that come with scale, and knows how to balance progress with discipline."
The creation of the CIO position signals an important milestone in Alpine Bank's evolution. As customer expectations and technology continue to change, the bank is investing in the systems, strategy and leadership needed to stay ahead while remaining true to its community banking roots.
Alpine Bank Chief Operations Officer Andrew Karow added that Smith understands “our Colorado communities and brings a practical mindset to the challenge of aligning technology with the people and customers we serve.”
In his new role, Smith will oversee Alpine Bank's information technology strategy and operations. He will focus on strengthening technology governance, supporting business growth, and ensuring the bank's systems and capabilities remain scalable, secure and customer focused.

Smith holds a degree in Computer Information Systems from the University of Northern Colorado and serves on several industry advisory boards. He has also been recognized internationally for his leadership in cybersecurity, earning Top Global CISO honors from Cyber Defense Magazine in both 2024 and 2025.
